Technology week was organized from 20-01-2010 to 24-01-2010 by ASF Gadag in Karnataka State.   Inaugurating the seminar Dr. D.P. Biradar Associate Director of Extension, University of Agricultural Sciences Dharwad said that the climatechange has adversely affected the rainfed farming eco system and farmers need to equip with knowledge to address the issues.   He further stated that new pest and diseases have evolved due to variation in climate and advocated farmers to adopt suitable technologies.  Shri C.G. Koravanavar, Chairman of ASF’s Host Institution advised the farmers to adopt the sustainable technologies that would facilitate them to become self reliant.  

Dr. L.G. Hiregoudar, Programme Coordinator of ASF, in his welcome address briefed the farmers about various activities organized during the celebration of technology weeks  

Mini Seminar on “Sustainable Agriculture Technologies”, “Horticultural Technologies”, “Value Addition in Agriculture”, “Dairy Technology” and “Drudgery Reduction Technologies” were organized during the week long celebration. Dr. S.M. Mantur,   Dr. H.B. Babalad and Dr. Bharati Chimmad, all Scientists from University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad participated as Resource Persons.

ASF arranged Technology Input and Information Cell for the benefit of farming community.  Exhibition of technologies, farm implements, books and literature were organized. 

Visit to demonstration units of Dairy, Sheep and Goat,Vermicomposting, Food Processing Unit, Seed Processing Unit, Azolla Production Unit and Orchards were organized.   Each day field visit to ASF farm was organized where ASF has demonstrated crop technologies in crop cafeteria,  alternate land use system models and vegetable seed production.   The celebration has attracted 1860 farmers, farmwomen and extension functionaries from the district.
