Target Group

Resource poor farm families and landless agricultural families organized in to SHGs
Immediate objective To enhance the income of 20,000 resource poor rural women SHGs from Rs.15000 to Rs.50000 per annum
Activities
  • Livelihood strengthening planning for rural women SHGs based on the available resources
  • Training on food processing, goat rearing, buffaloe rearing, cross bred cow rearing, vermicomposting, petty business and entrepreneurship development programme
  • A total of 18300 SHG members belonging to 1540 SHGs have availed loan of Rs. 29.00 crores for taking up activities of dairy, goat rearing, agro enterprises and food processing 
  • Wednesday Bazaar a small marketing outlet is initiated during 2004 for selling SHG products. 

Output

  • Establishment of food processing units viz., vermicelli, chilli powder, masala powder units by the women SHGs
  • Establishment of vermicompost units by the farm women
  • Goat units have been established
  • Women have taken up buffaloe and cow rearing activities
  • Women have started petty business activities like grocery shop, bangle shop, hotels and tailoring shop etc.

Outcome

  • Additional employment has been facilitated to 18300 SHG members
  • Income of women enhanced from Rs.15000 to Rs.50000
  • Increased decision making capacity of women in the home
  • Increased capacity of credit absorption
  • Increased education status of children
  • Migration of landless women reduced
  • Increased status of women in the family and in the society
